Cambodia Sees 8% Increase in Rubber Exports in First Quarter

PHNOM PENH, April 26, 2024 — Cambodia's rubber exports have reached a value of $100.5 million in the first quarter of 2024, marking an 8% increase from $92.9 million during the same period last year, according to a recent report from the General Directorate of Rubber under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

The report detailed that Cambodia exported 69,322 tonnes of dry rubber, showing a 5.1% increase from the 65,921 tonnes exported in the first quarter of 2023. The price of dry rubber also saw a rise, averaging $1,450 per tonne, which is $41 higher than the same period last year.

Key markets for Cambodian rubber include Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and China.

Additionally, the report highlighted that Cambodia has cultivated rubber trees on a total area of 407,172 hectares. Of these, 320,184 hectares, or approximately 79%, are mature enough for tapping.
